Iceland-based low-cost carrier Play, which launched operations in 2021, announced Tuesday it is adding service to New York Stewart International Airport, located approximately 60 miles north of Manhattan. It will be the only airline to operate international flights from the airport, according to the carrier. Tickets are available now for flights that begin June 9.
Play in December announced it would begin flights to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport April 20, and service to Boston Logan International Airport beginning May 11. These three U.S. destinations will open up routes to Iceland, Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Dublin, Brussels, Norway’s Trondheim and Sweden’s Gothenburg, according to the airline.
The carrier plans to operate flights to 25 destinations in the U.S and Europe in 2022 and anticipates it will have six new Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft in operation by summer.
