A VAN driver remains in serious condition after their vehicle collided with a busy roadway.
The westbound carriageway of the M27 where it connects to the M3 was closed yesterday following the incident.
Police have now confirmed that the driver, who sustained serious injuries, remains in hospital.
A spokesman for the Hampshire Constabulary said: “They remain in the hospital so far in a serious condition.
“We’re continuing to investigate what happened.”
A witness said other motorists broke the window of the van to get on board, and there was an air ambulance that arrived at the scene.
The eastern section of the M27 in Chilworth was shut down earlier this morning after a car transporter caught fire around 7pm.
