The female passenger died after crashing into a driver who was avoiding debris on the road

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) – A woman died in a crash on Interstate 70 near North Airport Boulevard on Monday night, police said.

The man driving a Lexus sedan was traveling east on I-70 when he turned around to avoid debris on the road. The car swerved 180 degrees, exploded on the highway cable guardrail and caught fire, police reported.

The female passenger died at the scene and the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said speeding, drugs and alcohol did not seem to be factors in the crash.
