Photos: The Alisal fire burned in Santa Barbara County

A stretch of Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County remained closed in both directions Tuesday because of the Alisal fire, which stopped traffic in Los Angeles.

The freeway is closed from a point just north of Carpinteria to three-tenths of a mile north of Goleta on Winchester Canyon Road, according to Caltrans.

Santa Barbara County firefighters stationed on the north lanes of the 101 Freeway sprayed water on the oncoming Alisal fire near Refugio Beach Monday night.
