Manchester United legend Roy Keane is worried that Jadon Sancho’s progress at the club has been hampered by the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sancho is still not getting points or assists for United this season, and Keane believes his lack of potency is due to not featuring as noticeably under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he did while at Borussia Dortmund.
Despite his underwhelming recent form at the club, England boss Gareth Southgate gave the 21 -year -old a start for his country against Andorra on Saturday.
Not Keane explained to ITV before starting: “It’s certainly been a slow start for him, well and very well at Dortmund but it’s a different beast going to Man United, big expectations.
“Probably overshadowed a bit by Ronaldo’s entry but I’ll always give the kid a chance, he’s been there for a few months, good chance for him tonight but give him a chance.”
Ang United The winger rekindled Southgate’s faith by setting up two goals as England rolled to a 5-0 victory.
Despite a spectacular display for his country Sancho has yet to make a performance of a similar stance for United and may find opportunities that are harder to come by when Marcus Rashford back from injury after international break.
Ronaldo has been the center of attention at United since returning to the club from Juventus in the summer, and has been in fruitful form with five goals in six appearances. But United fans hope Sancho’s two assists against Andorra could be a springboard for further success in a red shirt.
