CHICAGO (CBS) – A man was in stable condition after being shot on the Eisenhower Expressway early Sunday, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 2:20 a.m., according to Illinois State Police. All west lines from Austin Boulevard to Harlem Avenue will be closed for inspection from 4:30 p.m.
There have been nearly 200 expressway shootings in the Chicago area so far this year, compared to 128 throughout 2020. Illinois State Police last week will be increasing the number of night and overnight patrols on expressways in response to an attack of violence over the past two years.
