The Ministry of Finance increased the fiscal stimulus for gasoline and diesel to its highest level of the year.
The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) published today in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) the fiscal stimulus to the quota of the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) for fuels from October 9 to 15, 2021.
To increase the collection of the Federal Government, the Treasury decided this year to increase the percentage of IEPS tax that consumers pay at service stations for each liter of gasoline purchased at service stations in the country.
According to the DOF publication, during the second week of September, the fiscal stimulus for gasoline with less than 92 octane will increase from 2.7365 to 3.6293 pesos, accumulating 35 weeks with the support of the Federal Government to try to control the increase in the price, after the international prices of gasoline increased from the first months of the year.
In the week that starts tomorrow, this fuel will receive a support of 70.96%, the equivalent of 3.6293 pesos, so now consumers will pay 1.4855 compared to 2.3783 pesos of IEPS for each liter of fuel purchased at service stations last week.
For next week, the higher octane fuel (Premium), will have a support of 47.16%, the equivalent of 2.0369 pesos per liter, so now users must pay 2.2823 pesos of tax per liter, accumulating 22 weeks with subsidy.
Diesel on the other hand accumulates 33 consecutive weeks with support from the Federal Government, so now motorists will receive a discount of 55.54%, the equivalent of 3.1219 pesos for each liter purchased at service stations in the country, to pay 2.4993 pesos of tax for each liter.
The Federal Government has had to resort to fiscal stimulus to contain the increase in international fuel prices due to restrictions on the supply of crude oil and the increase in the IEPS fee paid by consumers, which was authorized by Congress. this year.
