Team GB stars Andrew Lawrence and Robert Gilchrist have signed with the Scorchers on a short-term deal.
Due to Visa complications delaying the arrival of their American signings, the Team GB duo will be completed.
The GB international team and Olympian Lawrence, who needs little introduction to UK basketball fans, will return to the BBL from Plymouth.
Prior to joining Plymouth, Lawrence’s stint at the London City Royals led to a successful campaign that led the team to the BBL Cup semi-final, leading the team in assists per game.
The Covid season was unfortunate for the 31-year-old as he suffered a hamstring rupture followed by an ankle injury. Through a successful rehab, Andrew is back in top form and has shown his experience and talent with the team thus far.
Rob Gilchrist is returning to the BBL for the first time since the 2017-18 season with the Worcester Wolves. Here, Rob made a big impact, being selected to the BBL defensive first team.
Last season, British forward Gilchrist played in France NM-1 for Rueil AC where he averaged 9.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
“The key is that they both know the league, which is very positive,” said coach Creon Raftopoulas.
“They have been in the Scorchers culture and it gives us a core of people who know what I am and know what we want this team to be.
“Their ability on the court speaks for itself, but I think it is what they bring off the court as well that will help our younger imports to come this season.”
