We all love learning about the luxurious ways celebrities spend their money. Decades ago we saw it in “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” Then there was MTV’s “Cribs” (which, you may know, is making a comeback). Plus, of course, there are all the reality shows about the lives of the rich, from the Kardashians to all the Housewives. But not all celebrities spend their money on expensive cars and multiple houses. There are some surprisingly frugal celebrities out there. And those of us with less-than-celebrity bank accounts might do well to learn some lessons from them!
If you’ve ever perused surprisingly frugal celebrity lists in the past, you’ve likely seen Leonardo DiCaprio’s name there. The richest reports that he has more than one car, but almost always only drives the no-nonsense Toyota Prius. And while you certainly have enough money to fly private jets whenever you want, you choose commercial airline flights most of the time. However, being frugal does not mean that you are stingy. He is known for giving a lot to charity. Of course, there could be a tax break on that, which also makes for a smart financial move.
The richest article emphasizes the cars that surprisingly frugal celebrities choose to drive. After all, many celebrities immediately use their first paychecks to get really flashy cars. Some of them have dozens of six-figure cars. And yet Mel Gibson drives a Toyota Cressida.
Money wise He’s also interested in surprisingly frugal celebrity cars. Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl drives a small family car. He also lives in a house “big enough”.
In last year’s article on stars who set good financial examples, we highlight how frugal Ed Sheeran is. Sleep on a friend’s couches. He gives himself a small allowance each month. However, that doesn’t mean you never spend your money. Instead, you actually spend a lot of money … but only on things that you hope will have a good return on investment. He invests in real estate, automobiles, art and restaurant. Apparently he has more than two dozen properties.
So he’s one of our surprisingly frugal celebrities not because he doesn’t spend money but because of how he chooses to spend it. He skimps and saves on everyday stuff and then uses it just to make smart investments. If you’re looking for financial advice from celebrities, yours seems to be “frugal every day, spend big on items with great potential returns.”
One thing Knightley has in common with Sheeran is that he stays on budget. The Richest reports that he is allowed to live on approximately 1/1000 of his net worth per year.
In that same 2020 article, we featured Rob Gronkowski because he chose not to use any of the millions Fromm made in the NFL. That’s all in savings. And, unlike Sheeran, he’s not spending that money on other places like cars. Instead, he sits on it, using only his profits from marketing for a living. Of course, your marketing earnings are likely more than many of us earn in a year. However, the frugal advice here would be to develop a passive income stream and live off it while setting aside other income for the future.
The American Idol-turned-superstar is famous for clipping coupons, making her own meals, and using other frugal tips that the average person uses in life. She is one of the surprisingly frugal celebrities who lives pretty much like the rest of us. While she and her husband live in nice houses, they only have one at a time (unlike many other celebrities who own multiple properties). 300 acre property It wasn’t cheap, the Tennessee house allows her to live a pretty normal life with her family.
Carrie Underwood might have her Oklahoma education on her mind when she remembers clipping coupons. She is not the only one. Although Lady Gaga isn’t always frugal, The Richest reports that she loves to get a good deal. In particular, look for good prices in the supermarket. So while it may not be entirely frugal all the time, it teaches us to always be on the lookout for good prices for the things we buy most often.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Who would think that the fashion icon was frugal when it comes to clothing? However, if you are a fan of hers, then you will know that she dresses her children in second-hand clothes and used clothes, according to Savings tips. She was a huge second-hand shopper herself when she was younger. And like Underwood, Gaga and many other stars, this has to do with remembering what it was like to have no money as a child. The Richest reports that he has an ambivalent relationship with money and that he will be more frugal for a while than to overspend. Like most of us trying to balance our budgets, this celebrity is a work in progress.
Saving Advice also reports that Tyra Banks is one of our surprisingly frugal celebrities. Your best way to save money is through DIY. In particular, he likes to do his own home improvement projects. Where you will spend the money is on things that last. In other words, you are frugal because you will invest in durability and quality that will save you money in the long run. There is a difference between being frugal and being stingy. Cheap sometimes costs more in the end!
The Richest definitely had to highlight Kristen Bell and her husband, if only for the fact that they spent less than $ 150 on their wedding. After all, celebrities can make this big special day as luxurious as they want. And yet he likes to keep things simple. And while she looks great dressed to the nines, she has been known to shop for clothes at bargain stores every day, even clothes she wears to big events.
Speaking of frugal weddings, MoneyWise reports that Mila Kunis and her husband Ashton Kutcher bought their wedding bands on Etsy for a total of less than $ 200. They also keep Christmas frugal with a single gift from them for their children (although the children get much more from other family members).
